LaborCops.ComTM is a division of Gary Hankins & Associates. Gary Hankins founded the company after twenty-two years as a Washington, D.C. police officer. While still with the Metropolitan Police Dept., he founded the first Fraternal Order of Police Labor Committee in Washington. Mr. Hankins was the first Chairman of that Labor Committee and was re-elected to six terms, serving as Chairman for twelve years before retiring. Under his direction, the FOP/MPD Labor Committee became a cutting edge law enforcement labor organization, pioneering suits under the Fair Labor Standards Act; winning the only pay arbitration award in the District of Columbia for his 4,000 members; and, assembling a staff of lawyers and labor relations specialists who won precedent setting labor relations cases on his members’ behalf, year after year. The FOP/MPD Labor Committee became widely recognized as the premier law enforcement labor organization in our Nation’s Capital. Many other law enforcement labor organizations followed the wide path he cut for his members.
